Yeshua, Make Your Bride, the City, Yerushalayim, a Praise in the Nations!
“Let my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth if I don’t remember you; if I don’t prefer Jerusalem above my chief joy.” (Psalm 137:6)
What focus can we offer – from our heart, soul, mind and strength – for a city? “Above our chief joy?” Is it a literal aspiration of King David’s – the man after YHWH’s own heart? How can we do this – especially if we are afar off?
Yerushalayim (plural in the Hebrew) is both heavenly and earthly. This helps me greatly in understanding the tension, the mystery, the beauty of YHWH’s chosen city and people. As Yeshua has gone to be with the Father that He might prepare a place for His Bride (John 14:1-6), “we look for a City who’s Builder and Maker is God!” (Hebrews 11:10)
And this is “Echad” (one) with the very same Bride He is betrothed to from ancient times – “He built his sanctuary like the heights, like the earth which he has established forever.” (Psalm 78:69)
“God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead.. made us alive together with Messiah (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Messiah Yeshua, that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Messiah Yeshua..” (Ephesians 2:4-7)
“..you were .. separate from Messiah, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Messiah Yeshua you who once were far off are made near in the blood of Messiah. For he is our peace, who made both one, and broke down the middle wall of partition, having abolished in the flesh the hostility, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man of the two, making peace; and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross..” (Ephesians 2:12-16)
Father, bless those who bless Israel. Open the eyes of hearts in your people who have believed in Your Son, Yeshua, so we can see and take part in all of Your promises and focus upon Israel and her Jerusalem. May we truly be watchmen on the wall who won’t be silent (Isaiah 62:6) until Yerushalayim is made a praise in the whole Earth!
“For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until her righteousness go forth as brightness, and her salvation as a lamp that burns. The nations shall see your righteousness, and all kings your glory, and you shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name. You shall also be a crown of beauty in the hand of the LORD..” (Isaiah 62:1-3)
“I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband.” (Revelation 21:2)
Break forth into joy, sing together, you waste places of Jerusalem; for the LORD has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem. (Isaiah 52:9)
But be you glad and rejoice forever in that which I create; for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people; and there shall be heard in her no more the voice of weeping and the voice of crying. (Isaiah 65:18-19)
The City of Joy has been forever in the bosom of the Father, the heart of the Son, the Joy of the Spirit… and Avraham SAW it! “By faith, Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to the place which he was to receive for an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he went. By faith, he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a land not his own, dwelling in tents, with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise. For he looked for the city which has the foundations, whose builder and maker is God. (Hebrews 11:8-10)
It was built by God and, at the fulcrum of time, Yeshua is accomplishing it for us NOW! Let the heavenly be united with the earthly! Come LORD YESHUA! The Spirit and the Bride say COME!
“Behold, I come quickly. My reward is with me, to repay to each man according to his work. I am the Alef and the Tav, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. Blessed are those who do his commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city.” (Revelation 22:12-21)
