Whose Jerusalem? MyRightHand’sArt #64 Oct 21, 2010

Jerusalem, city of gold. The ancient homeland of the Hebrew people, the Israelis of old, the Jews, descendants of David and children of Abraham. That much we know.

But what real history is there of a religious connection to Jerusalem with Arabs or the larger Islamic community?

I like to agree with fellow gentile believer in Yeshua, King of the Yehudim, George Gilder, that “the Israel Test” is taking place before our eyes on the world stage:

“As you see YHWH of old, the Maker and Savior of humanity, place His hand of blessing upon the Jews once again (as the age of the gentiles, indeed, draws to a close), will you LOVE what He is doing? Or will you DESPISE what He is doing?”

No other place does that test become more clear, for those who have eyes to see and studious minds to think, than on the ancient Temple Mount of  the Jews, where the very stones of ancient artifacts cry out from the grave as they are purposefully dug up and destroyed by the WAQF (those guys are WACK!), the Arabic militia strangely given “stewardship” of the holiest site on planet earth.

Here is some more convincing research for studious minds regarding that holy place.

Study well!

by Hagai Mazuz and Harold Rhode

Israel and the Palestinians are once again negotiating their future relationship. One of the most difficult issues they confront is the status of Jerusalem.

On September 22, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton congratulated Saudi King Abdullah on the occasion of his country’s national day. She reserved special praise for Abdullah’s support of the Arab Peace Initiative (API), which calls for an Israeli withdrawal from all territories gained in 1967 and for East Jerusalem to be the capital of a Palestinian state. She suggested that this plan would serve as a philosophical basis for the ongoing talks. “As we continue working to support direct talks between the Israelis and the Palestinians, the principles enshrined in the Arab Peace Initiative are more important than ever,” Clinton wrote.

Jews and Christians know that Israel’s claim to Jerusalem is rooted in the ancient Jewish connection to that city. Israel’s declaration of independence speaks of both “natural and historic right.” Jerusalem is the centerpiece of that historic right.

What about the Muslim claim?

For Muslims, Jerusalem is thought to be sacred for two reasons: First, Muslims were initially commanded to pray toward Jerusalem. But when the Jews refused to convert to Islam, Muhammad changed the prayer direction toward Mecca. Second, Muslims believe that Muhammad ascended to heaven and back from “the Rock” which much later after his death was interpreted to mean what is today the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem.

Interestingly, Islamic sources from the first 50 years or so after Muhammad’s death make clear that Jerusalem had absolutely no holy status for Muslims.

Some centuries later, Ibn Taymiyya (1263–1328) another important Muslim cleric with an encyclopedic knowledge of the Koran and Hadith, wrote extensively about Jerusalem, and how there were only two holy cities in Islam – Mecca and Medina. He eventually became the intellectual godfather of Wahhabism, the dominant Islamic doctrine of the Saudi government. He claimed that Muslims must rid themselves of all non-Muslim innovations and return to the early Islam of Muhammad and the first four caliphs. The rulers of Ibn Taymiyya’s time saw him as a threat and imprisoned him. Even so, he did not recant.

Ibn Taymiyya went to great lengths to explain that the veneration of Jerusalem in nothing more than the “Judaization” of Islam. He wrote that after the second caliph ‘Umar conquered Jerusalem in 637 he and his aide Ka’b al-Aḥbār [a Jewish convert to Islam], went up to view the Temple Mount. ‘Umar asked his aide: “Where do you think I should build a place of prayer for Muslims?” Ka’b replied: “Build it behind (i.e., north of) the Rock.” Angrily, Umar said to Ka’b: “Oh you son of a Jew, is your Jewishness dominating your view?” ‘Umar was accusing Ka’b of Judaizing Islam by saying that they should build a place to pray north of the Rock where the Jewish Temple had once stood. If they had done so, they would have been bowing down both towards the Rock and Mecca. That is why ‘Umar decided to build the place to pray on the southern part of the Temple Mount – the place today known as the Aqsa Mosque. ‘Umar’s choice of location meant that the Muslims bowed down only to Mecca and that their backs (rear ends) were facing the Rock.

Ibn Taymiyya wondered how Muslim clerics could have accepted Ka’b’s attempts to incorporate Jewish traditions into Islam, because Ka’b did not cite any of Muhammad’s companions as the source of his claim.

Ibn Taymiyya also accused Ka’b of fabricating Muslim traditions and incorporating Jewish writings, i.e., the Bible, Talmud, etc., into Islam. Ibn Taymiyya admitted that the original prayer direction was Jerusalem but he emphasized that Muhammad and the Muslims abandoned that tradition in order to differentiate themselves from the Jews.

Later, Ibn Taymiyya discussed the first caliphs and showed that when they ruled over today’s Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Israel, neither they nor any of the early governors nor any clerics made any attempt to build any structure over the Rock on the Temple Mount. This demonstrated, according to Ibn Taymiyya, that they did not attach any importance to it; as the early rulers and companions of Muhammad knew his views and his religion better than later generations of Muslims, no later scholar could disagree with them nor with the traditions they observed. They clearly did not attach any Islamic significance to today’s Aqsa Mosque nor to the Temple Mount in general. How then, Ibn Taymiyya reasoned, could we who never knew them nor Muhammad have the right to disagree? There is no way we could know more about Islam than they. We therefore have no right to sanctity al-Aqsa because they did not do so.

In order to further strengthen his argument against Jerusalem’s sanctity, Ibn Taymiyya wrote that during Muhammad’s night journey to heaven from Jerusalem, there is no mention of the (Temple) Rock in the story. Therefore, since the Rock is not even mentioned, it has no importance in Islamic tradition.

So we see that according to the intellectual godfather of the Saudis, the Aqsa Mosque and the Temple Rock have absolutely no Islamic religious significance. As he proved, these are nothing more than Judaic traditions that have penetrated Islam, and, as non-Muslim innovations, must be expunged from Islam.

So how did Jerusalem become holy in Islam? In the 680s, a civil war erupted among the Muslims. The caliph who ruled from Damascus wanted to put down a revolt by the people who controlled Mecca, the place of pilgrimage. In order to weaken them, he decided to build a counter-pilgrimage site and at the very least siphon off people who during the pilgrimage might have decided to take up the rebel’s cause. He
therefore chose to build a dome over the Rock in Jerusalem and to encourage people to make pilgrimages there instead of to Mecca. That is when Jerusalem became holy in Islam. So in essence, Jerusalem’s sanctity to Muslims stems from a local revolt which occurred some 50-plus years after Muhammad’s death.

The Saudi regime follows Ibn Taymiyya to a tee. Those who disagree with his philosophy do so at their own peril. When a Saudi editor published an article questioning something that Ibn Taymiyya had written, he was quickly fired on the orders of the information minister. So it is rather curious that the Saudis have included, as one of the basic principles of their plan for peace between Israel and the Arabs, the idea that East Jerusalem must be the capital of a Palestinian state. Why have they rejected their godfather’s stance on Jerusalem? Ibn Taymiyya must be turning over in the grave.

Israeli Scientist Silenced by Left – MyRightHand’sArt #63 Oct 5, 2010

This is a travesty! This kills me –  “numerous studies that refute the science of evolution (show that a human being is not just) substance without a soul.”

Some say there is not a “culture war” – that we should all just relax and boil like frogs in a cold pan of water on the stove flame. I disagree. Read up on your adversaries – herehere and here and fight with TRUTH.

– – – –

Dr. Gabi Avital, the chief scientist of Israel’s Education Ministry, was fired on Monday after reiterating his position that evolution is just a theory, and that it should be taught alongside creationism as the two most widely held beliefs regarding how our world originated.

In an interview with Israel’s Ma’ariv newspaper last month, Avital insisted that “the conditions [for life on earth] were not accidental. [Charles] Darwin was a great scientist, but he took his theory in dangerous directions, and we need to teach the flaws of that theory, too.”

Speaking to Israel National News a day after being fired, Avital insisted the education of Israel’s young people is incomplete because it does not take into account the “numerous studies that refute the science of evolution” and show that a human being is not just a “substance without a soul.”

Shortly after being appointed to the post of chief scientist in December 2009, Avital advocated for adding creationism to the school curriculum.

The office of Education Minister Gideon Saar (Likud) issued a statement on Monday claiming that Avital had been hired on a trial basis, and that his trial period had simply expired without a decision to keep him on in the position of chief scientists.

But Avital told Israel National News that there was no question that Saar decided not to keep him because of the Ma’ariv interview. “Apparently, he did not like it.”

Being a scientist who also believes strongly in the Bible, Avital was regularly attacked by the liberal Israeli media from the moment he was hired by the Education Ministry.

The most vicious attacks came from the radical left-wing newspaper Ha’aretz, which in addition to his views on evolution, faulted Avital for saying global warming is a farce used by liberal environmentalists to advance their political agendas.

Avital has maintained that industry and technology have had only a very minor effect on the global temperatures and the climate in general, and that the “green” agenda is more about economic interests.

Avital noted the ludicrous message that his firing sends – that a chief scientist, a recognized expert, cannot and should not be heard if his findings and views oppose those of the established mainstream.

A Madman in a NY City UN Bldg!

View this short clip I’ve captured of “A Madman in a Jihad” Ahmadinejad prays to hasten coming of twelfth Imam and bring Islamic “victory.” How should we respond?

The following is from Joel Rosenberg’s Blog –

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made yet another inflammatory speech to the U.N. General Assembly on Thursday. He began his remarks by praying, “O God, hasten the arrival of Imam al-Mahdi and grant him good health and victory and make us his followers and those who attest to his righteousness.”

Imam al-Mahdi is another name for the “Twelfth Imam” or the “Hidden Imam.” Shia Muslims believe this Islamic messiah will come at the End of Days to destroy Judeo-Christian civilization as we have known it, force infidels to convert or be executed, and will set up a one-world Islamic government known as the “caliphate.” Ahmadinejad believes the way to “hasten” the Twelfth Imam’s coming is to annihilate the U.S. and Israel. This would bring about the “victory” that Ahmadinejad prayed for on American soil. The speech went downhill from there. Ahmadinejad accused the U.S. government of masterminding the 9/11 attacks in order to save Israel. Few in the West, including our leaders, understand what Ahmadinejad and his colleagues in the Iranian government believe. And that’s the problem.

What should we do in response? We need to “get ready” and “be prepared,” according to Ezekiel 38:7. We need to

  1. gather in small groups and as entire church congregations and pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and
  2. mobilize others to pray, too.
  3. We need to travel to Israel to do prayer walks, and
  4. worship the Lord, and
  5. study and teach the Word of God, and to
  6. encourage Israelis that we are standing with them, and
  7. (encourage them) that the God of Israel loves them without limit.
  8. We need to care for poor and needy Israelis and Palestinians with unconditional love and unwavering support.
  9. We need to stockpile humanitarian relief supplies in Israel and
build infrastructure to distribute even more emergency aid when the next war comes.
  10. We need to strengthen the Church in the epicenter (Israel) in real and practical ways.
  11. We need to help our brothers and sisters throughout the region,
  12. preach the gospel and
  13. make disciples and
  14. plant churches and
  15. show that Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace and the only hope of reconciliation.

Time is short, but our path forward is clear.

Through my forthcoming novel, The Twelfth Imam, I’m trying to help people imagine what the world would look like if Ahmadinejad’s world view began to come to pass.

Through The Joshua Fund, I’m trying to help us get ready for such a world, and to mobilize Christians to make a difference.

What is the Lord asking you to do?

Yom Teruah and the Settlers – MyRightHand’sArt #62 September 12, 2010

David Silver of Haifa, Israel, has come through for me again! Between him and many of the other Jewish believers in Yeshua who live in the land – lay their lives down and their sons and daughters lives down for the land – there is a wellspring for the entire body worldwide! Again, David flows with truth through his ministry newsletter. Please consider his words below.

I’ve just been so busy with and (related) as well as with my “investing-in-the-future” projects – latest being the AtomGlue Hub – that I just haven’t had TIME to invest in learning what I NEED to know about –

A – The feasts of YHWH. Key, I’m convinced, to fully realizing our walk with Moshiach Yeshua, Melech HaOlam, and the end-time scenario.

B – The rapture in relation to the Jewish wedding ceremony.. I sense this is another key we all need to be more informed about.

I’ve been wanting to share on both of these with you during this season of “the last trumpet” and “the day and hour no one knows” (when the barley crop is “aviv” or “abib”) especially.

But then I saw this letter from David Silver and immediately felt the Lord say, this is good.

So, without further ado…

In Him who loved us to the end, Yeshua, our Beloved Lamb and Lion,

The Feast of Trumpets, the Rapture & the Settlers

Acts 3:20-21  “and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before,  “whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.  (NKJ)

We are now in the season of the Fall Feasts of the Lord. I believe there is a strong connection with the Feast of Trumpets and the Rapture, but I was going to say that there wasn’t any connection with the Settlers,  I just wanted to cover 2 separate topics this week.  However as I was about to type that last sentence, I believe that the Holy Spirit apprehended me and showed me that there is indeed a connection between all three.

THE FEAST OF TRUMPETS & THE RAPTURE    Firstly, lets take our annual look at the Feast of Trumpets or the Feast of Shofar Blowing as the Hebrew calls it.  This year the Feast fell this past Wednesday.  More commonly the day is referred to as Rosh Ha Shana, the Head of the Year – the New Year.  In my desire to be a BC (Biblically Correct) person and not a PC (Politically Correct) person I am not not interested in celebrating the New Year at this time.  According the Biblical instruction we are to have a holy convocation on the 1st day of the 10th month. Leviticus 23:24  Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a sabbath rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy  convocation.    How can the 1st day of the 10th month be the New Year ?   Furthermore the Lord says that Passover time in April is the beginning of the year for Israel.   Exodus 12:2  This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you. (NKJ)  I was never one to follow traditions for the sake of tradition.  I would rather follow the instructions of the Creator.

I believe that one of the reasons the Feast of Shofar Blowing ( Yom ah Truah )  is now celebrated as Rosh Ha Shana, is that the enemy wants to conceal or mask the true relevance of this Holy Feast of the Lord.  Concerning the Feasts, God calls them His Feasts – His appointed times.  We believe that the Feasts of the Lord prophetically show the Lord’s plan of redemption for Israel, and those who are grafted into Israel by the Blood of Yeshua, to form the One New Man of  Ephesians 2:15.   Every major New Testament event thus far, has been precisely fulfilled on an Old Testament festival.  The next event we are waiting for is the Rapture or the catching away of the Body of Messiah.   I know there are people out there who dont believe in the Rapture, but I see it clearly in scripture, so please don’t bother writing to me about this.  Many Bible teachers who have a degree of understanding about the relevance of the Feasts, believe that the Rapture will occur on the Feast of Trumpets (when you hear the last trumpet – the trumpet of God and the shout of the Arch-angel).  We don’ know the year, but I believe we can know the day by knowing about the Feasts. That is why we recommend you do take the time to study the Feasts.of the Lord
There are a number of good resources for learning about the Feasts – you can find them through Google.

The simple way to celebrate Yom Ha Truah or the Feast of Trumpet is to gather together for a Holy convocation, thank the Lord for His amazing redemption plan and the soon return if Yeshua to set up the Kingdom of God in Jerusalem, and for sending Yeshua to be our personal Redeemer, read the Scriptures. pray, blow the Shofar of course, and share some good food together.

THE SETTLERS   Secondly I want to discuss those terrible trouble-makers –  the dreaded Jewish Settlers.  Well, dreaded in the eyes of the world’s politicians and the media.  Most Israelis, including ourselves, opt for living in the comfort and relative safety of larger towns and cities.  However the people the world calls the Settlers are in the main religious Jews who believe in God and believe in the promises that God made to Abraham.  They not only believe but they put their money where their mouth is, or should I say, they put themselves and their families where their faith says they can be, paying a high price to do. They pay by sacrificing the ease, comfort, and safety of life in the majority of Israeli towns and cities.  Sometimes they pay with their lives.   Last week as the Fall Feast season approached, four of the Settlers were ambushed and tragically killed in cold blood, for daring to live where God told them they could.  Much of the media ignored the assasination all, maintaining their focus on the Peace Talks, in the hope that the politicians will succeed in pushing the Israeli government to give away large parts of the Lord’s land –  the land where the Settlers choose to live in obedience to the Word of the Lord   Joshua 1:3  “Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses.

Yes I know that the religious Settlers don’t YET believe that Yeshua is the Messiah, and some of them even hate Messianic Jews & Christians, but in another way they are doing the rest of us a great favour.  They are sacrificing  their own comfort and safety to claim and hold the land that is a part of all our  eternal inheritance as the Seed of Abraham. In doing this they are doing something that many Christians never do – that is put the interests of God ahead of their own interests.  If my understanding of Acts 3:21 is correct – that Yeshua wont return until the Times of Restoration are fulfilled, then without knowing it they are obeying 2 Peter 3:12.  By establishing their communities in what the World calls “the occupied Territories”,  but what God calls “My Land”, they are hastening the day of the Lord’s return.  They are advancing the final fulfillment of  Yom Ha Truah – the Feast of Trumpets –  the Rapture and the re-establishment of  The Kingdom of God on the Earth.

Therefore if you, like Josie & I, are looking forward to that great and terrifying day of the Last Trumpet, and the return of Yeshua, then we are all indebted to the Settlers.  “How do we repay that debt I hear you ask ?”

  1. We can stand with them and defend their right to occupy the Land that God promised to Abraham ( Gen 1
    5:17 – 19  & Psalm 105:6 -11 )
  2. We can pray for their protection and the protection of their wives and children
  3. We can pray effectively & fervently for their Salvation  –  that God will honour their faithfulness in the natural by opening their eyes to spiritual truth
  4. We can pray that the current Settlement building freeze will come to an end as scheduled at the end of this month

The Lord bless you as you bless Israel by standing in defense of her right to exist on the land given to the Jewish people by the God of Israel.
Lets pray that Israel will turn back to their God.  Do not be silent, but share this with your fellow Christians, share it with your pastors, and with anyone you have a chance to speak to. Lets also pray for that breakthrough to the Muslims,  and please remember to pray for all of the soldiers in the IDF -they are defending and fighting for the Kingdom of God.

Activation of Iranian Reactor Imminent MyRightHand’sArt #61 August 15, 2010

Dear praying saints,

Safe to say this report from a friend in Jerusalem is stronger than anything else you’ve got going on this week. Israel needs your prayers today!

The following is a succinct overview of this next critical week in Israeli and Middle East history. You can be a part by your POWERFUL prayers!

I’ve also added a prayer and a Debka file report at the end.

Begin forwarded message:

August 14, 2010 at 10:21pm
Subject: prayer request…

Hey everyone,

We got an interesting week ahead over here. Let me fill you in real quick.

In 1980 Israel blew up a nuke reactor in Iraq. called operation opera. Some say Iraq wanted to make weapons, but the main reason was because of “escalation.” Iran even helped them. They knew that if Iraq had a nuke plant capable of producing a weapon, every other country in the region would want one, and since they all hate each other – it would be bad for business.

Happened again in 2007, in Syria. operation orchard.

the timing is what is relevant, and I’m getting to my point. Israel chose to blow up the nuke plants days to weeks before they were loaded with nuke rods and turned on. If they were to blow them up at any time after that, it would contaminate the air and water killing lots and lots of civilians.

so you know there are crazy people running iran right now, and they got this nuke reactor thats gonna be loaded next week by the russians. saturday the 21st to be exact.

Long story short, there is a strong chance Israel might blow it up next week for all the same reasons.

So, this is just a request for prayers for wisdom in Israel’s government, and protection of its land and people.

Thanks everybody, love you all

“Yeshua, you are the King. And You see all these movements of the people. We ask you to reign in the wicked kings of the earth according to Your timing and Your mercy. Bless Israel, bless the democratic and free speech movement in Iran. Have mercy on the US (whom Iran has said to be targeting with these same nukes – ). We love You and we ask for your help this week – especially for Israeli safety, security and salvation. Amen!”

Flap in Jerusalem over Aug. 21 activation of Iran’s first reactor

DEBKAfile Special Report August 14, 2010, 11:40 PM (GMT+02:00)
The sudden announcement in Moscow and Tehran on Aug. 11 that Russia is set to activate Iran’s first nuclear power reactor by loading the fuel on Aug. 21 has caused a major flap in Israel in view of the military aspects of the plant. debkafile’s military sources report that only last week, high Israeli officials asked Washington for clarifications on the latest intelligence information that Moscow had decided to finally activate the Bushehr reactor after innumerable delays.

Endangered as never before! My Right Hand’s Art #60 June 22, 2010

The following are two sisters in the land of Israel who have their eyes and ears open. The Gaza “Terror” Flotilla appears to be only the beginning of a very difficult situation. Here is my video on the issue – in coordination with Esther Levens and Rodger Parsons.:

We are also working on this page which exposes the underlying motive of ALL Jihad against Israel and the West – a perversion of Torah Law for Islamics called “Shariah Law” –

We begin with “Anonymous” – A (wide awake!) sister in the land:

PLEASE…Read, and pray– People here are open as never before to hearing about the Lord, yet, we are also a country divided.  The pressure is palpable, and fear is ever growing. Soldiers have been told to prepare for a coming war, and some (that we know of) from ‘special units’ have been ‘called in’. The tension between the neighboring Arab/Beduin and us is growing (WITHIN the country). The ‘call to prayer’ and the ‘sermons’ on Fridays have become more virulent in sound and ‘feel’. The Rabbis keep writing articles about the coming Gog and Magog war of Ez. 38–which includes Turkey. Yesterday it was reported that Tony Blair (EU) is pushing for UN presence on the Israel/Gaza border. [Note: Since this was written Netanyahu has apparently agreed to this]. As the weather report said, it is ‘hotter than normal for this time of year’!  And the Lord knows it all–He is not shocked nor surprised. May we each have His heart on how to pray, and stay in agreement with Him. ‘Pray for the peace of Jersualem.  May they prosper who love her’ (Ps 121:7)

And this, from the Reporter/Author, Caroline Glick (her website, Center for Security Policy)

Column One: Weathering the approaching storm
06/18/2010 16:38

Israel is endangered today as it has never been before. The Turkish-Hamas flotilla two weeks ago precipitated a number of dangerous developments. Rather than attend to all of them, Israel’s leadership is devoting itself almost exclusively to contending with the least dangerous among them while ignoring the emerging threats with the potential to lead us to great calamities.

Since the Navy’s lethal takeover of the Mavi Marmara, Israel has been stood before an international diplomatic firing squad led by the UN and Europe and supported by the Obama administration. Firmly backed by European and largely unopposed by Washington, the UN is moving swiftly towards setting up a new Goldstone- style anti-Israel kangaroo court. That canned tribunal will rule that Israel has no right to defend itself and attempt to force Israel to end its lawful naval blockade of Hamas-controlled Gaza.

Fearing this outcome, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu bowed to US President Barack Obama’s demand that Israel set up an Israeli inquest of the Mavi Marmara takeover and permit foreigners to oversee its proceedings.

Netanyahu also agreed to scale back Israel’s blockade significantly, and allow international bodies to have a role in its far more lax enforcement. Netanyahu has made these concessions with the full knowledge that they will strengthen Hamas in the hopes that they would weaken the international onslaught against Israel.

Unfortunately, it took no time at all to see that his hopes were misplaced. Even before Netanyahu announced these concessions, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon already announced that they make no difference to him or to his friends in Washington and Brussels.

They will move ahead with their plans to appoint a new kangaroo court charged with asserting that Israel has no right to defend itself.

AS BAD as all of this is, in truth, it is unimportant relative to the other consequences of the flotilla incident. The impact of the diplomatic campaign now being waged against Israel will be felt in the medium and long term. In the immediate term, Israel is facing two threats that dwarf what it faces from the UN.

Recent statements by the leaders of Iran, Turkey, Syria, Hamas and Hizbullah make clear that the members of the Iranian axis view the Mavi Marmara episode as a strategic victory in their ongoing campaign against Israel. The international stampede against Israel at the UN, the White House and throughout Europe exposed Israel’s Achilles heel. The Mavi Marmara demonstrated that on the one hand the IDF cannot enforce its blockade of Gaza without the use of force. On the other hands it taught Israel’s enemies that by forcing Israel to use force, Iran, Turkey and their allies incited a UN-EU-US lynch mob against Israel.

Iran, Turkey, Syria, Hamas and Hizbullah are moving rapidly to exploit their new discovery.

In the very near future, Israel will face off against Iranian, Lebanese and Turkish ships complemented by ships full of Israel-hating German Jews and other Jewish and non-Jewish Hamas supporters.

The Mavi Marmara showed Iran and its allies that they can win strategic victories against Israel by giving the IDF no option other than using force against them. This means that Israel can bank on the prospect that all the ships they are dispatching will be populated by suicide protesters. Indeed the Iranians have openly admitted this. Mohammad Ali Nouraee is one of the regime officials involved in dispatching the Iranian ships to the Gaza coast. In an interview this week with Iran’s official IRNA news agency, Nouraee said that the passengers aboard the ships “are willing to become martyred in this way.”

The Lebanese ships are being organized by Hizbullah-affiliated individuals and the Turkish ships are being organized by the IHH terror group that organized the Mavi Marmara.

Hizbullah’s penchant for dispatching suicide squads is of course well known. And the IHH showed its devotion to suicide protests on the Mavi Marmara. So it is fairly clear that the passengers aboard the ships from both countries intend to force the IDF to kill them.

The intensification of the suicide protest campaign against Israel is dangerous for two reasons.

First, it is a model that can be and in all likelihood will be replicated on air and land and it can be replicated anywhere. Israel can and should expect mobs of suicide protesters marching on Gaza to force Israel to surrender control over its borders. Israel can expect mobs of suicide protesters marching on Israeli embassies and other government installations around the world in an attempt to increase its diplomatic isolation.

In the air, Israel can expect charter flights to take off from airports around the world with a few dozen kamikaze protesters who will force the IAF to shoot them down as they approach Israeli airspace.

Iran and its allies have found a weak chink in Israel’s armor. They will use it any way they can.

Israel needs to quickly develop tactics and strategies for contending with this.

THE SECOND and far more dangerous implication of Israel’s enemies’ aggressive adoption of suicide protests is that by ensuring violence will be used, they increase the chances of war.

Indeed, Iran and its allies clearly believe that suicide protests are a vehicle for initiating a fullscale war against Israel on what they view as favorable footing. According to Bahrain’s Al Wasat press service, Hussain Amir, Iran’s ambassador to Bahrain, threatened this week that, “If the [Zionist] entity dares to direct any aggressive attack [against the Iranian ships], then it is certain that [Israel] will be met by a much stronger and firm blow.”

Syrian President Bashar Assad told the BBC Wednesday that the region is moving towards war. And the Turkish government is continuing to escalate its assaults on Israel. On Thursday Turkey threatened to cut off diplomatic relations with Israel if Israel does not issue a formal apology for its takeover of the Mavi Marmara and pay restitution to the families of the terrorists killed on board the ship.

Obviously the most disturbing aspect of the war threats is the specter of Turkish naval vessels attacking the Israel Navy. If Turkey – a NATO member – participates in a war against Israel, the repercussions for Israel’s relations with NATO member states, including the US, as well as the EU, are liable to be unprecedented.

While going to war against Israel would be a major gamble for Turkey, in recent years it has not shied away from high stakes challenges to its NATO allies. Indeed, one of Turkey’s ruling AKP party’s first actions upon taking power in 2003 was to deny the US military the right to invade Iraq from its territory. The deleterious impact of Turkey’s refusal to come to the aid of its NATO ally at the time has been felt by US forces in Iraq ever since.

IN THE days and weeks to come, Israel’s political and military leaders must move resolutely to prepare to withstand these new threats that have arisen in the aftermath of the Mavi Marmara episode. To meet the expected deluge of suicide protesters on sea, land and air, Israel must immediately acquire non-lethal means to disperse these protests. This involves purchasing and producing tear gas, water cannons, rubber bullets and other non-lethal weaponry.

These non-lethal weapons must be rapidly distributed to IDF units deployed along the frontier with Gaza and to the navy. They must also be supplied to Israeli security teams tasked with protecting government installations worldwide.

Forces must undergo intense and immediate training in crowd control and mob dispersal to be ready to meet what is clearly on the way.

Diplomatically, Israel needs to hold its new line on the Gaza blockade. Netanyahu’s buckling to US-EU-UN pressure has encouraged them to redouble their assault on Israel. The new line must be held at all costs. Otherwise, Israel will have no diplomatic line of defense as the approaching threats become reality.

Strategically, our leaders need to consider what our aims will be in the coming war. For instance, as far as Turkey is concerned, Israel’s aim will be to end the war as quickly as possible.

Here the tools of diplomacy with NATO members and public diplomacy with the American people will be crucial to convincing Turkey to stand down. They must be aggressively and energetically utilized without delay.

From a military perspective, evasion is preferable to confrontation. This understanding must guide naval operations towards Turkish forces.

As for Iran, Israel’s aim must be to prolong the war as long as necessary to secure its strategic objective of denying Iran nuclear weapons.

Moreover, it is important to use both kinetic and non-kinetic means to change the relative power balance between the Iranian people and the Iranian regime. While in all likelihood today the Iranian opposition green movement is unable to overthrow the regime, if Iran initiates a war against Israel, Israel must use the opportunity the war affords to change that balance of power.

Once Israel’s political and military leaders determine the strategic goals of a regional war, they must move swiftly to outfit and train the IDF to fight it. This war will certainly be different from its predecessors and Israel’s strategic goals – and the clear strategic and tactical preferences of its enemies – dictate the training that the IDF must initiate immediately.

The longer-term lesson of the Mavi Marmara incident, and the threats that emerged in its wake, is that war is too serious a subject to leave to generals. The IDF and the Defense Ministry clearly misunderstood the nature of the threat posed by the Turkish-Hamas flotilla.

Indeed, recent reports that until the Mavi Marmara Israel wasn’t even collecting intelligence on Turkey despite its obvious, multiyear transformation from ally to enemy underlines the fact that the IDF is woefully incapable of assessing, understanding and preparing for the threats Israel faces.

In light of the IDF’s failure to understand Turkey’s transformation from ally to enemy in a timely manner, its incompetent planning for the Mavi Marmara takeover and its problematic performance in both Operation Cast Lead and the Second Lebanon War, Netanyahu must create an external body empowered to assess and dictate the means for preparing for emerging threats. This body can either be a new department in the Prime Minister’s Bureau or the National Security Council can be empowered to perform this function. While this is not the most urgent matter on the national agenda, the establishment of such a body should be a central mission of the government.

The Iranian ships are already en route, and the ships from Lebanon could appear at any moment. The mass demonstrations against Israel throughout the world and the threatened violence from the Hamas-supporting Israeli Arab leadership indicate that mobs of suicide protesters could appear anywhere with no prior warning.

Time is of the essence. No, Israel does not want another Goldstone kangaroo court. But right now, kangaroo courts are not our biggest problem.

Growing Israeli interest in Yeshua (Jesus). My Right Hand’s Art #59 June 17, 2010

The greatest magazine in the history of mankind.

No, really.

Israel Today is Godly. That knocks out a whole lot of other magazines right off the bat! AND it’s excellence is second to none on several levels… The reporting, the photography, the Biblical, historical and political teaching/insight, and the extremely personable approach to the entire magazine… it’s absolutely breath-taking.

Um, and I recommend it highly!

Following is just one article that gives yet another reason why this is THE greatest magazine of all time… the editors and authors have their fingers on the pulse of the center of the heat of the heart of Yahweh’s revival fire on planet earth!

“To the Jew first… and also to the Greek.”

Wednesday, June 16, 2010 Israel Today Staff – Growing Israeli interest in Yeshua (Jesus)

The Messianic ministry Revive Israel located just outside Jerusalem reports that its staff and partner ministries have experienced an upsurge in interest among secular and religious Israelis in the person and ministry of Yeshua (Jesus).

In their latest newsletter, Sahar S. writes that a group of 40 young Israeli college students recently visited the Revive Israel offices to ask questions regarding Jesus and the New Testament for a course on Israeli history and culture.

“They were surprised to discover that the promise of a new covenant is written in the Hebrew prophets (Jeremiah 31). The biggest news to them was that Yeshua loved the God of Israel and that His teachings were focused on a fulfillment of the moral law in the Ten Commandments (Matthew 5),” said Sahar. “A number of them came with pre-conceived ideas and even anger towards Messianic Jews. At the end of the meeting a young religious man came and admitted that his perspective had changed about who we are – Israeli Jews who believe in Yeshua.”

The group was reportedly surprised at the level of kindness shown by the Messianics despite frequent harassment of and attacks on believers in Jesus in Israel.

The newsletter also included an update on a 4-week Jews for Jesus campaign in central Israel that is currently winding down. Ze’ev N. writes that the group received contact information from no fewer than 2,000 Israelis interested in hearing more about Jesus.

Updates. My Right Hand’s Art #58 May 12, 2010

Yeshua IS Lord!Howdy, MRHS / MRHA people!

Well… and … both fell by the wayside recently.

Tom Chaffer here and, altho its a sad thing, there’s something even better, I think, taking their place!

My 2 new sites – and! And 2 more besides – and!

Interestingly, I feel I can actually post this same article to both you MMASFY-people AND you lovers of Jerusalem, my MyRightHand’sArt peeps! I’m sharing a video project (MMASFY) which has to do with Jerusalem (MRHA)!

I’ve had the wonderful privilege to help Esther Levens present 4 unique videos, through her site,, for Jerusalem Day this year – May 12th, 2010.

All 4 can be viewed, either on the UC4I Youtube channel or on Esther’s website.

The 4th video, I’m most excited about, features famous Russian dissident, Natan Sharansky. It’s quite feasible that one particular man was responsible for the release of over a million Jews from the former Soviet Union. It was quite a moment to be able to record his voice live and direct… onto my iPhone! Esther interviewed him and I recorded, researched and edited together this piece.

I also had the privilege to participate in an interview with Senator Sam Brownback, regarding his bill to ensure the final fulfillment of US Law 104-45 (104th Congress, 1995) and move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, the eternal Capital of the sovereign State of Israel! If this move happens, the Lord MAY spare judgement on the USA because of other current, ongoing mistreatment of Israel and favor being shown to her (and our) enemies. See Esther’s Action Alert to help make it happen here.

We also interviewed Dr. Robert Stearns, founder of Eagle’s Wings and singer and theologian extraordinairre – and Shoula Romano Horing, (the only of the 4 in which I used my iPhone to capture video!). Shoula is an Israeli Sabra (native-born) and Kansas City lawyer and lecturer. Have a look at her moving testimony of growing up in Jerusalem during the 6 day war time frame!

As to what my recent email might mean to those on my list (see sidebar – SUBSCRIBE if you’re not already!), I would like to urge you to stay on board with the MMASFY or MRHA emails, but, if you must, you can freely unsubscribe with this new “MailChimp” email service I’m using and I will sorely miss your presence.

In fact, if you would like to explore further into the “atomsound universe,” you could even subscribe to more than just this one MMASFY or MyRightHand email. Just sign up here for the other 3 services I’m offering now – emails along the lines of any (or all of ) the following sites –

MMASFY (MovieMakers and Shakers for Yeshua)
YeshuaIS and
Atomsound.TV Updates

I promise I won’t send more than once a month on each… and even THAT probably won’t happen super regularly (except for MRHA.. I try to be faithful to that one for sure). There’s a fun one-question survey in there, too!

Thanks precious saints. I’d love to hear from each one of you personally. Give me a call.

Blessings in Yeshua, our amazing, wonderful and soon-coming, ROARING Messiah!
