My Right Hand’s Art #03 Nov 2004 – The Future, Part 1

( Originally published )

Imagine a world without the fervor of blind nationalism and the accompanying distortion it brings to the global human experience… and yet, imagine a country standing at the center of our international communities as the servant of all countries… and see the King in His seat in that country, very God and very Man, and He is serving all mankind with utmost humility and wisdom…

In fact, according to Ezekiel 47, that country will look like this

… cool huh?

Thanks for the picture!

If you can see this, then you’re approaching an accurate vision of our future, I believe.

Mike Bickle, the head pastor at, had this to say at the March, 2003 “Israel Mandate Conference” in Kansas City, Missouri, in a message on the significance of Paul’s proclamation in Romans 11:33 – “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out!”

quoting BickleĀ  – – – – – – – – – –

The destinies of National Israel and Apostolic Christianity are BOUND TOGETHER – Eph 3:10, 4:11 – “the fellowship of the mystery” – Jews and Gentiles will be LOVESICK for one another under the leadership of Yeshua! And it’s a weapon that will LOOSE THE SECOND COMING! It will also DIVIDE the wheat from the chaff… those who humble themselves in the spirit of Romans 11 and those who do not embrace their Jewish counterparts at the fulness of the age of the Gentiles! Both Romans 11:33 and Rev. 19:1-4 represent the same “Holy, Holy, Holy!” aspect of Jewish and Gentile saints… All the saints of God are in UNITY WITH GOD AND WITH ONE ANOTHER – AWESTRUCK AT GOD’S PLAN!!! Romans 12:1- “offer your bodies as living sacrifices…” is “THEREFORE”… in LIGHT of this MERCY! THRUST YOURSELF INTO THE FIRE OF GOD – BECOME A LIVING SACRIFICE!!! And the LAST people who should be LAZY in God regarding these dynamics are those who have been STRUCK by Romans 11!!! The mercy of chapter 12:1 is related to the mercy of 11:30-32…

Being a fan of science fiction, I find myself often bemoaning the lack of positive images portraying our future. Sometimes, the visions are offered by brilliant minds, but there seems to be within them a black hole of deficit in their perceptions.

This is where the hope of Hebrew Scriptures brings a fantastic light that resonates with the inborn hope of every human heart: Zion!

The fact that the word, Zion, evokes such fearful, perhaps even negative, responses in the hearts of many is, in some degree, a testament to the power of the truth about that word.

The concept behind the word is defined in the most wide array of variants. There are so many factions claiming one distortion or another and attributing those ill-perceived notions to Scripture’s own portrayal of the vision.

But don’t let that deter you from making your own decision about what God wants to communicate with His word… the word, Zion. Remember – the Bible is EASY to understand! God made it so! Don’t believe the theologians who say it’s difficult… complex, maybe… but logical, actual, literal, geographical and easy to see once exposed directly!

This word, Zion, I believe, has been chosen by God (even alongside the word for His city, Jerusalem) to mysteriously IDENTIFY His dream… “the mystery of the Kingdom of God” (Luke 8:10)… For I would not have you ignorant, brethren, of this mystery, (lest you should be wise in your own conceits), that blindness in part has happened in Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles should come in. (Romans 11:25)

This is why I’m so excited about Romans 11:33… because God’s very chosen people, the Jews, are IN THE DUGOUT patiently waiting while He focuses His mercy on us Gentiles so we can GET IT!!!

“OH! The depth of the riches of the wisdom and of the knowledge of God! How incomprehensible are his judgments, and how unsearchable his ways!”

I myself am also in the process of forming an initial, conclusive opinion of what is Zion. So I read with anticipation alongside you as you study the following scriptures.

This I know: The Scriptures are Truth and God has communicated a lovely vision of His plans for humanity within them.

Ask yourself some questions as you study… “What is God telling me His Zion is?” and “Why are the nations in such a rage about ‘Zionism’?” (Psalms 2 : 1 – 6)

So! Here we go! “To infinity and beyond!” (King James, Youngs and God’s Word are quoted) –

As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. – Romans 9:33

And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: 27

For this is My covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins – Romans 11:26-27

“Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David.” – 2Sam. 5:7

“Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.” – 1Kings 8:1

“Yet have I set My King upon My holy hill of Zion.” – Psa. 2:6

“Sing praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people His doings. 14 That I may shew forth all Thy praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice in Thy salvation.” – Psa. 9:11 & 14

“If only salvation for Israel would come from Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of His people, Jacob will rejoice. Israel will be glad.” – Psa. 14:7

“For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession.” – Psa. 69:35

“When the LORD shall build up Zion, He shall appear in His glory.” – Psa. 102:16

“Moreover He refused the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim: 68 But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which He loved. 69 And He built His sanctuary like high palaces, like the earth which He hath established for ever. 70 He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds: 71 From following the ewes great with young He brought him to feed Jacob His people, and Israel His inheritance. 72 So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.” – Psa. 78:67-72

“They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.” – Psa. 84:7

“For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.” – Psa. 132:13

“Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.” – Psa. 149:2

“And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem: 4 When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and
by the spirit of burning. 5 And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defense”. – Is. 4:3-5

“Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks. 24 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.” – Is. 10:12 & 24 [I have to note that, although we tend (especially in western, affluent countries) to be dismayed by the tough talk of God’s judgement, there’s a phrase which helps me to make sense of it all that I want to share with you. It’s this – “God must remove everything that hinders love.” He will do what He must so we can be with Him in the way He prayed for us in John 17!]

“Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean. 2 Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.” – Is. 52:1

“The sons also of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee; and all they that despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee, The city of the LORD, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.” – Is. 60:14

Isaiah 66 bears particular consideration and study. Verses 1-2 and 6-14 follow –

1 This is what the LORD says: Heaven is my throne. The earth is my footstool. Where can you build a house or resting place for me? 2 I have made all these things. “That is why all these things have come into being,” declares the LORD. I will pay attention to those who are humble and sorry [for their sins] and who tremble at my word.

6 Listen to the uproar from the city. Listen to the sound from the temple. It is the sound of the LORD paying back his enemies as they deserve. 7 Before a woman goes into labor, she gives birth. Before she has labor pains, she delivers a child. 8 Who has heard of such a thing? Who has seen such things? Can a country be born in one day? Can a nation be born in a moment? When Zion went into labor, she also gave birth to her children. 9 “Do I bring a mother to the moment of birth and not let her deliver?” asks the LORD. “Do I cause a mother to deliver and then make her unable to have children?” asks your God. 10 All who love Jerusalem, be happy and rejoice with her. All who mourn for her, be glad with her. 11 You will nurse and be satisfied from her comforting breasts. You will nurse to your heart’s delight at her full breasts. 12 This is what the LORD says: I will offer you peace like a river and the wealth of the nations like an overflowing stream. You will nurse and be carried in Jerusalem’s arms and cuddled on her knees. 13 As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you. You will be comforted in Jerusalem. 14 When you see it, your heart will rejoice and you will flourish like new grass. The power of the LORD will be made known to his servants, but he will condemn his enemies.

“And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.” – Mic. 4:2

“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.” – Zech. 9:9

“Tell ye the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.” – Matt. 21:5

“And the messenger said to her, ‘Fear not, Mary, for you have found favor with God; 31 and behold, you will conceive in the womb, and will bring forth a Son, and call His name Jesus; 32 He shall be great, and Son of the Highest He shall be called, and the Lord God shall give Him the throne of David His father, 33 and He shall reign over the house of Jacob to the ages; and of His reign there shall be no end.'” – Luke 1:30-33

“Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this.” – Is. 9:7

“So the angel who talked with me said to me, ‘Proclaim, saying, “Thus says Yahweh of Hosts: ‘I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.’ “‘” – Zech. 1:14
